Aston Villa’s Premier League match with Tottenham has been postponed as they continue to deal with the Covid outbreak. The London club will now play city rivals Fulham, instead, on Wednesday night.
Bodymoor Heath, Villa’s training ground, was forced to be closed last week as there was a huge rise in positive testing within the club, meaning 10 first-team players had to self-isolate in that period. Villa manager, Dean Smith and his team had to replace the entire squad for their third-round FA Cup match against Liverpool, fielding a side full of players from the Under 23s and 18s. Liverpool progressed after winning 4-1 against a very young Villa team.
Since Aston Villa are still dealing with Covid, the Premier League have confirmed that Spurs will play Fulham at the same time on Wednesday. The original match, postponed, was set for December 30.
Due to the re-arrangement of fixtures, Fulham’s game against Chelsea has moved from Friday to 5:30pm Saturday. Aston Villa’s encounter with Everton has switched from Saturday to Sunday at midday.
